GT Coil – What is it in Vaping?
Definition
A GT Coil is a replaceable atomiser head manufactured by Vaporesso for their NRG, Cascade and SKRR series tanks. It contains a wireheating element wrapped in Cotton“>organic cotton that vaporises e-liquid when powered by your mod. Designed for both mouth-to-lung and direct-lung vaping, GT Coils balance flavour clarity, vapour production and coil life, making them a popular choice for Australian vapers seeking reliable performance without rebuilding.
Technical Details
GT Coils use a vertical coil configuration housed in a stainless-steel chassis with four large wicking ports. Resistance options range from 0.15 Ω (GT8, 50–110 W) to 1.2 Ω (GT CCELL, 7–12 W), covering nic salts and high-VG juices. Inside, you’ll find either traditional Kanthal wire, temperature-control-ready Ni200, or Vaporesso’s ceramic CCELL technology that resists gunk build-up. Each coil is gold-plated on the 510 pin for lower voltage drop and improved conductivity. Variants include the single-mesh GT Mesh (0.18 Ω), dual-core GT4 and quad-core GT8, all threaded for cross-compatibility with any Tank“>glass tank that lists “GT compatible”.
Usage & Tips
- Prime the cotton by dripping 3–4 drops of e-liquid onto the exposed wicking before installation to prevent dry hits.
- Start at the lower end of the Wattage Range”>wattage range printed on the coil and increase gradually to avoid gurgling or spitting.
- If you notice muted flavour or a burnt taste, check for gunk; high-sweetener juices shorten coil life. Rinse the coil under warm water, dry-burn lightly, or simply replace.
- GT CCELL ceramic versions excel with 50/50 or nic-salt e-liquids, while mesh variants deliver denser clouds with 70 VG+ juices.
- Always allow 5–10 minutes after filling a new tank or coil so the cotton is fully saturated—especially in Australia’s warmer climates where e-liquid thins and wicks faster.
History & Context
Launched in 2017 alongside the Vaporesso NRG tank, GT Coils evolved from the earlier Atomizer“>Genesis atomizer concept, offering pre-built convenience without sacrificing performance. Their modular design quickly became an industry standard, allowing vapers to swap between brands such as SMOK Baby Beast coils and Eleaf HW series, cementing GT compatibility as a hallmark of mid-wattage sub-ohm vaping Down Under.
