Xros Pod – What is it in Vaping?

Definition

A Xros Pod is a refillable, magnetic cartridge designed for the Vaporesso Xros series of pod-vape devices. It combines a 2 mL e-liquid reservoir with an integrated coil (available in 0.8 Ω, 1.0 Ω and 1.2 Ω resistances) to deliver tight-draw mouth-to-lung (MTL) or restricted-direct-lung (RDL) vaping. The transparent body lets Australian users see juice levels at a glance, while the top-fill silicone seal prevents leaks when refilling on the go. Unlike disposable pods, Xros Pods are built for multiple re-fills—typically 10–15 cycles—before the coil naturally degrades, making them a cost-effective and eco-conscious choice for beginner and intermediate vapers.

Technical Details

Each Xros Pod is injection-moulded from PCTG plastic and houses a non-removable mesh coil manufactured with Vaporesso’s X-Coil Technology. The mesh heats evenly at 11–20 W, depending on resistance, delivering rapid ramp-up without hot spots. A quadruple silicone seal and SSS leak-resistant technology (Seal-Comprehensive, Saturate-Properly, Seal-Securely) minimise condensation inside the battery bay. Pods snap into the device chassis with gold-plated magnets rated for 5 000 insertions, ensuring a stable electrical connection to the Chip“>XML Chip that auto-detects coil resistance and sets appropriate wattage. Airflow is adjusted via a sliding toggle on the battery, not the pod itself, keeping the internal airway fixed for consistent flavour.

Variations

  • Xros 0.6 Ω – RDL mesh, best 20–24 W (compatible with Xros 3 & Xros Pro).
  • Xros 0.8 Ω – balanced MTL mesh, 16 W sweet spot.
  • Xros 1.0 Ω – classic MTL round wire, cooler vape, higher nicotine.
  • Xros 1.2 Ω – tight MTL, ideal for 20–35 mg nic salts.

Usage & Tips

Before first use, prime the coil by filling the pod and letting it stand for 5–10 minutes; this prevents dry hits and extends coil life. Use the side-fill port—lift the silicone tab, insert the nib of a 60 mL Chubby Gorla bottle at a 45° angle, and squeeze slowly to avoid airlocks. Rotate the pod 180° after filling to equalise pressure. If you notice gurgling, remove the pod, wrap the mouthpiece in a tissue, and flick downward to expel excess juice. Chain-vapers in Australia’s warm climate should keep pods below one-third full to limit thinning of high-VG e-liquids. When flavour drops or the coil looks dark, responsibly dispose of the entire pod—do not attempt to dry-burn the mesh, as the PCTG may deform.

History & Context

Vaporesso launched the original Xros in late 2020 as a pocket-friendly counter to Uwell’s Caliburn, quickly dominating Aussie vape shops. Successive iterations—Xros 2, Xros 3 and the 2024 Xros Pro—retained the same pod geometry, ensuring backward compatibility and cementing the Xros Pod as an industry benchmark for reliable MTL vaping.
