Definition
A Juice Channel is a precision-cut groove or recessed pathway machined into an atomiser’s Deck“>build deck that allows e-liquid to flow from the juice well toward the wicking material. Technical Details
Juice channels are typically 0.5–1.2 mm deep and 1–2 mm wide, laser-cut or CNC-milled into stainless-steel decks. They connect the deeper juice well—which holds excess e-liquid—to the wick slots, using surface tension to draw juice upward. Variations include single, dual, or radial channels; some RTAs add micro-channels under the wick ports to balance juice control and prevent flooding. High-end decks may polish channels to a mirror finish to reduce surface friction and speed wicking, while mesh RDAs often use cross-hatched channels to stabilise sheet coils.
Usage & Tips
- Trim wicks so tails just reach the channel—too long and they choke flow; too short and juice pools unused.
- When squonking, pulse fire while squeezing the bottle; watch channels fill, then release to avoid over-dripping.
- Clean channels weekly with a soft-bristled brush to remove caramelised sweeteners that restrict flow and mute flavour.
- If experiencing dry hits despite full well, check for collapsed cotton blocking the channel; re-fluff and reposition.

Juice channels evolved from early 2012 genesis tanks, where users carved grooves into silica-wick holes to improve feeding. As cloud chasing grew, Australian modders popularised deeper channels in RDAs to match high-VG juice and juice capacity demands, leading to today’s precision-milled decks found in mainstream atomisers worldwide.
