Turbo Coil – What is it in Vaping?

Definition

A Turbo Coil is a high-performance vape coil engineered to maximise vapour production and intensify flavour by increasing the speed at which e-liquid is heated and aerosolised. Unlike standard coils, a Turbo Coil uses a multi-strand or mesh-style core with enlarged surface area and low electrical resistance (typically sub-ohm). This design allows the coil to reach operating temperature almost instantly, creating dense clouds and a warmer, more saturated Hit“>throat hit. Turbo Coils are most often found in replaceable tank coils or rebuildable atomisers aimed at direct-to-lung (DTL) vapers who enjoy high-wattage vaping.

Technical Details

Turbo coils achieve their “turbo” effect through several engineering choices:

Today, Turbo Coils are mainstream, stocked nationwide from local vape shops to servos, and have pushed average device power ratings past the once-extreme 100 W ceiling.
